Zurich, 11 October 2004 - FIFA has formally rescheduled the FIFA World Cup Preliminary match between Chinese Taipei and Palestine originally scheduled on 13 October 2004 to the next day, 14 October. A cooperative effort of FIFA, the Palestinian and Israel football associations as well as the Israeli government resulted in securing the necessary exit visas for the temporarily delayed Palestinian footballers and it is confirmed that they have passed through the borders and will be available for the match in Chinese Taipei.
"I am pleased that the tireless effort and cooperation between the FIFA administration and our colleagues at the Palestinian and Israeli FAs in consultation with the Israeli government resulted in Fair Play coming out the winner in this situation," said FIFA President Blatter. "It is unfortunate that politics sometimes gets in the way of 'the good of the game', but we are glad that in the end, the match will be played and both teams will have their full complement of players." In order to allow for proper preparation time for the Palestinian team, FIFA took the decision to postpone the match for one day. The kick-off of the match remains at 16:00, local time.
